PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR PARENTS IN THE EARTHQUAKE AREA

"Psychoeducational Program for Parents after Challenging Life Events" was prepared by the Ministry of National Education in order to support the psychological well-being of parents after the earthquake.

A psychoeducational program was prepared by the Ministry of National Education Directorate General of Special Education and Guidance Services in order to strengthen parents' coping skills against the negative effects of challenging experiences caused by traumatic events.

The program was prepared in three sessions and consists of three themes: "An Awareness of Stress Reactions, The Positive Coping and The Optimism for the Future".

The psychosocial support program offered to parents aims to evaluate the psychological and social impact of the trauma, to reduce the parents' stress symptoms and increase their psychological resilience and to prevent long-term mental health problems by ensuring the continuity of support.

With the start of the 2023-2024 school year, the program was made available primarily to guidance teachers and psychological counselors to be used in studies carried out on parents in the earthquake zone.
