Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı participated in the dinner organized in the honor of Nobel Chemistry Award Winner Turkish scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Speaking during the dinner in the Presidential Complex Erdoğan thanked the guestsfor their participation. 

 

Science and Art Center will be named after Aziz Sancar 

President Erdoğan announced that Savur Secondary School located in Savur district and Artuklu Anatolian High School located in Artuklu will be named after Aziz Sancar adding that they have decided to name the newly constructed science and art center in Mardin as “Professor Doctor Aziz Sancar Science and Art Center.”

Noting that several activities including “Aziz Sancar Science Olympics”, “Aziz Sancar and Science Essay Contest” and “Aziz Sancar painting contest” will be organized with the participation of basic education and secondary education students, President Erdoğan stated that Mardin Midyat Highschool Dormitory will also named after Aziz Sancar. 

Erdoğan congratulated Sancar and said that, “I wish from Allah that his success shall continue in the future.”

Among the guests of the dinner organized in the honor of Aziz Sancar were First Lady Emine Erdoğan, his daughter Sümeyye Erdoğan, Sancar’s spouse Gwendolyn Sancar,  their daughter Rose Lorraine Peifer, Presidential Secretary General Fahri Kasırga, Deputy Secretary General and Spokesman İbrahim Kalın, TÜBİTAK Chariman Arif Ergin, Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Chairman Ahmet Acar and rectors of Turkey’s prominent universities.
